Last April, I reported a banded song sparrow in my backyard. I saw him at my feeders for about a week before he moved on.

Imagine my surprise yesterday morning when a banded song sparrow showed up at my feeder again! I have no idea if it's the same one, but having two show up in the same place would be quite a coincidence. I've been putting seed out and trying to get enough photos of the band to get the number, but this sparrow is very wary. So far, I know that there's a 5 and a 6 in the middle of the number. If I get the rest of it, I'll send it to the BBL website and let you all know about his history.

Also, a pair of barred owls has been rather vocal in my yard this week, sometimes even calling at 2:00 in the afternoon.
