Since 2005, the Grand Manan Whale and Seabird Research Station has been studying shearwaters in the Bay of Fundy where they spend their winter (our summer) fattening up for long distance migrations. Dr. Ronconi will be presenting on the trials and tribulations of working with these magnificent seabirds. Highlights include the first ever deployments of satellite tags on Greater Shearwaters which documented their habitat use in the Maritimes and long distance migrations to Tristan da Cunha. From a birds-eye view, Dr. Ronconi will explore the ecological diversity of our oceans and the conservation challenges that face our seabirds.
