A new yard bird for us was a pair of Red Crossbills which came to a
home-made plastic feeder with a roof, which most birds feel
uncomfortable inside. We sat on the deck, Don taking photos, with the
birds happily munching on black sunflower seed only about 20 ft. away.

First Chipping Sparrow of the year appeared this morning. And 2 Osprey
flew overhead, calling, this afternoon, heading towards the usual nest
site near the Beaverbank Rd. exit from Hwy. 101. Another first for the
year.

L. Sackville
