Jeff and I took a quick run through Amhest Point today to see what was
around. The marshes are still frozen over but will be open very soon - the
edges are opening up. Across the road in flooded fields however was very
productive with waterfowl and a couple of birds of prey. Here is what we
saw:

10 Northern Pintails
6 American Wigeons
5+ Northern Shovelers
8 Mallards
4 Black Ducks
1 Green-winged Teal
74 Canada Geese (in the field same side as the marsh)
 1 Rough-legged Hawk
2 Bald Eagles (adults)

At the Springhill Sewage Lagoon there were:

12 Common Mergansers
4 Black Ducks

I should also mention that last Sunday (April 5) we saw 6 Wood Ducks in a
flooded part of the Maccan River (in Maccan).

Cheers,
Cindy
