All:

Zoe Lucas reported another Purple Martin on Sable I. on 6 April, and there was a
Barn Swallow at the Shearwater Airfield yseterday(?).

Out-of-season martins ought to be scrutinzed for possible tropical vagrants - a
few have occurred in USA. If a female, look for the pale collar on Purple
Martin, lacking on other species. Males of some tropical martins are pale below
- might look like female Purple, but are all-blue above. The Southern Martin
male is all blue, but is smaller and has a deeper tail fork than Purple.

Just dreamin'

Cheers, Ian
