Yesterday around 5:30pm as I pulled in the driveway I got my first glimpse
of White-breasted Nuthatch in a month or more. As I watched it I was pleased
to see a second nuthatch only a few feet away. While I wasn't able to
determine the gender of both birds (one did appear to be a male, which
already distinguishes it as new to my yard), I assume they were a pair by
their behaviour. They seemed to be checking out the lone Lombardi Poplar on
our property.
