We had our first returning Fox Sparrow at our place in Portuguese Cove this afternoon, a species still considered rare for this time of year. The Yellow-rumped Warbler has successfully over-wintered, as expected, and is beginning to brighten up into a bright spring male. It has been present every day all winter.

On our midday walk today at Sir Sanford Fleming Park and The Dingle Laura and I found a very nice Green-winged Teal, except it had blue wings. I don't know whether this is a hybrid or just a normal variation in the Green-winged Teal. On the other hand maybe I should just get out some more.

Hans
