Hello all,

I am a Ph.D. student researcher at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington, NC. I'm studying mercury contamination in coastal sparrow species. One of the species of interest to me is NSTS (Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow -- now just Nelson's Sparrow). I'm attempting to sample from as many NSTS populations as possible. I get wintering birds here in NC but am looking for ways to sample multiple breeding grounds locations.

If you know of anyone working with these birds in your area, banding, observing, or sampling in any way, please let me know or forward my contact info to them. That would include anyone banding or working in their habitat who might occasionally run across NSTS and be able to band and/or sample a few for me.

I'd be happy to send extra project information to anyone interested in more details, but I didn't want to bog down an email to the whole list with that type of thing. Thanks in advance for any help or networking anyone can provide!
