Hi there,

I ran into some friends at the Farmer's Market this morning who live
in Ketch Harbour. They told me that they had heard from neighbours
that several Snowy Owls had been seen out at Chebucto Head last
week. One in particular seemed very weak and reluctant or unable to
fly. Richard and Asha hiked the trail from Duncan's Cove to Ketch
Harbour a few days ago, and found a pile of white feathers, some with
blood on them.

We speculated about what might have gone after a weakened Snowy
Owl. Richard said there were lots of Red Fox there, but the place
where they found the feathers was barren high ground and not where he
usually sees the foxes. What about a Raven? There are lots of those
in the area. Or perhaps the Gyrfalcon which Hans Toom reported from
this vicinity a few days ago?

	Cheers,

	Patricia L. Chalmers
