Hi,

I have posted a representative selection of the 61 pictures I took of the
bird in Point Pleasant Park this morning. (Most of the others were out of
focus, fuzzy, or identical to these). Web site is
http://www.pbase.com/rb_stern/hermit__warbler. Note the dark head, the
pattern of darker marks on the face, almost forming a cheek crescent, the
minimal dark bib, and the pattern of streaking on the flanks. To me (after
poring over several field and non-field guides to warblers), this bird looks
like it has plenty of Townsend's genes, ans is either a hybrid Hermit X
Townsend's or a back-cross of this with a Hermit. Perhaps after other
pictures have appeared, Ian (or I) might like to see if anyone on ID
Frontiers etc. has any thoughts.

Incidentally, we also saw the Devil's Island Snowy Owl and the Eastern
Passage Redhead today. Thanks to the many other birders who pointed all this
good stuff out to us!
