Hi All:

Another new yard bird for us! A *Red-bellied Woodpecker* made an appearance
in our backyard yesterday in Springhill, and gave us great close-up views.
We both saw the bird and watched it for a few minutes as it foraged on a
dead tree in the backyard. Very nice visitor to have!

I've seen a lot of posts about Snow Buntings lately in the past couple of
days, so I thought I should mention we have had flocks of *Snow Buntings* in
Springhill as well, one flock seen yesterday right in town by the Surette
Battery Company and also just outside town on Saturday in my atlas square
(20MR26) in the blueberry fields. Also in my atlas square on Saturday we
saw the following birds:

*Boreal Chickadees
Ruby-crowned Kinglets
Brown Creeper
Gray Jay
Evening Grosbeaks
Red-tailed Hawk*

Also, back in town, on one of the "black track" trails (coal) we had an
immature *Bald Eagle* sit and pose on a dead tree while Jeff got some pics.

On our way out of the woods on Saturday we came across the fur of a Snowshoe
Hare. There were bird tracks on the ground all around the fur, something
with large talons. I suspect it was either a Great Horned Owl or a Northern
Goshawk that took the Hare, as both birds have been seen in this area
before.

Cheers,
Cindy & Jeff
