Hi all
Rick Ferguson had a RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER at his feeder in Westville this morning. (near Ferguson's store)
This afternoon I saw a female RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER behind the Hector Centre in Pictou. Also in this same area were 2 WILSON'S WARBLERS- one a bright male, and a dull PINE WARBLER. In the area were 15 Cedar Waxwings as well.
This morning I saw a BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE on the rocky bar at the Caribou Island lighthouse. I could not identify a large alcid seen there. It was quite white in the face, but had a stubby bill and was not significantly smaller than Red-breasted Mergansers near-by. As I was positioning my small digital camera to digiscope a photo. it took off and flew east and maybe out to sea. Guess I will have to leave it unidentified. Any alcid in Pictou Co. is uncommon.
The 50 Red-throated Loons are still at Waterside Beach PP and there were also ~40 Snow Buntings there as well.
cheers
Ken
