Ornithology, who will give an overview on citiz This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_c0QRstvgk6VCG26jDNrHdA) Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT HI Andy, will register tomorrow. I also registered to do a poster but have heard not much about it since i got the acceptance. I still have some questions about space available etc. Can someone email me about that? Thanks Helene -----Original Message----- From: naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca [mailto:naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca]On Behalf Of Andrew Horn Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2008 3:47 PM To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Subject: [NatureNS] For Our Birds conference registration Hi all, Just a reminder that the For Our Birds 2008 conference is approaching fast. Space is filling up, and though nobody will be turned away at the door (barring fire regulations ...), it'll be a huge help if you register right away. The conference is on Saturday and Sunday, November 15 & 16, at the Rowe Management Building on the Dalhousie University campus in Halifax. It's a rare chance to hear all sorts of perspectives on birds in Nova Scotia. It's also a rare chance to get in your two cents: Sunday morning is devoted to open discussion on what should be done for birds in the province. Ideally, we hope to leave the conference with some clear plans for improved coordination and communication among everyone that's interested in bird conservation. I've pasted a brief list of the Saturday talks below. Again, please register asap so we can get a clear idea of numbers. Details are at http://ecologyaction.ca/coastal/birds/ Thanks, Andy Horn Halifax Brief summary of talks: Saturday's talks start with a keynote presentation by Janis Dickinson, Director of Citizen Science at Cornell's Lab of Ornithology, who will give an overview on citizen involvement in bird monitoring and conservation across North America. Then there'll be a wide range of talks on bird conservation in Nova Scotia: Sherman Boates on DNR's perspective on bird conservation in NS Andrew Boyne on what CWS is doing for birds in NS Ted D'Eon on restoring Roseate Terns to The Brothers Andy Horn on why swallows are disappearing in NS and elsewhere Randy Lauff on our spotty knowledge of saw-whet and boreal owls in NS Carolyn Matkovich on using radar to track migrating birds Dave McCorquodale on Christmas Bird Count trends in Cape Breton Susann Myers on the Maritime Shorebird Survey Cindy Staicer on our declining Acadian forest birds Becky Stewart on the Maritime Breeding Bird Atlas Becky Whittam on BSC volunteer bird monitoring in NS Jim Wolford on chimney swifts as a case study --Boundary_(ID_c0QRstvgk6VCG26jDNrHdA) Content-type: text/html; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=us-ascii"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16735" name=GENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY style="WORD-WRAP: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space"> <DIV><SPAN class=156234603-07112008><FONT face=Arial color=#0000ff size=2>HI Andy, will register tomorrow.
