I was just out working in my yard and I found some feathers. Lately there
seems to be a fresh one every day or so. Not from a kill, I think, but
moulting, perhaps. Anyone know anyone who can use these? I have a number of
Blue Jays around at the moment and they seem to be sharing. I haven't picked
many up as my cats think they are for them and then I have messes to clean
up. Usually in the early summer we find Northern Flicker and Woodpecker. I
also get the occasional gull and crow. Perhaps someone can use them for
crafts project or painting........whatever. I could save them if someone
might be interested.
Right now we have a few chickadees, blue Jays, a junco or two. yesterday we
saw robins again flying west this time, and I think it was Thursday at just
about sunset a large string of Geese were flying west along the shore. I
tried to count but am not good at that. I would say at least a hundred.
There are several groups of American gold finches, one of a dozen or so and
one with five, swinging around and around over head chittering as they go.
I heard a Northern Flicker yesterday afternoon and I heard what sounded like
an eagle keening. I was seeing quite regularly, a very large dark brown bird
flying over the golf course and in our yards but thought it was too big to
be an immature Bald eagle and although I haven't seen it the past couple
days, I catch a keening sound when the wind is quiet.
