All: Following up on Dave Currie's posting, I went to the City Field in N. End Halifax today for an hour after lunch. As he s ays, it's hopping (flying) with sparrows (plus the usual flock of House Sparrows - perhaps biggest in Metro Hfx. I sighted all he mentioned, and a tail-less Lark Bunting. I saw three Indigo Buntings together, one of which had a suspiciously peach-buff breast (as in 1st fall Lazuli) but wouldn't let ne check its back tones. Note that wing bars are not useful in these birds - some 1st-fall Indigo can have more conspicuous ones than 1st-fall Lazuli. There was a Yellow-breasted Chat in Seaview Park (dog park at E. end of "dump" site). It was in the thickest rose thickets in the middle of the Basin side of the park. The only place that had a great concentration of seed eaters was at the extreme W. end of the area (next to the container pier.). You'll have to walk from the next gate to the east (or maybe drive tomorrow when the gate will more reliably shut you in when you're wandering about.
