Sat., Sept. 27 - HALIFAX FIELD NATURALISTS -- Snakes and Turtles
This field trip follows Duncan Smith's presentation on Species at Risk. We will have a morning walk for snakes and will spend the afternoon to see and learn about turtles and their nesting habits, and also hope to encounter turtle hatchlings. Since this is a long trip from Halifax, car pooling is encouraged. Please register for this trip. There will be a Park Entrance Fee for each person.

Sat., Oct. 4, 2008 - HALIFAX FIELD NATURALISTS -- Bogs and Barrens
Enjoy a coastal walk with leader Janet McGinity from the scenic village of Prospect to the exposed granite barrens along the Bay Shore. See how bog and barren plants survive in the thin glacial soil, increase your knowledge of the geology of this special area and the history of Prospect village. Expect Bearberry, Crowberry, Cranberry, Pitcher Plant and others in their fall colours. Wear sturdy footwear; bring field guides, drinking water, and binoculars.
Directions: From the Armdale Rotary take St. Margaret's Bay Road. After 3-4 kilometers, turn left onto Hwy 333, following the signs to Peggy's Cove and Prospect. After approx. 15 km, near Shad Bay, take a left turn at the sign for Prospect. It is 5 km from Hwy 333 into Prospect village.
