All the talk about dates of hummies departing here, I came across this =
interesting posting. Liz

Thu, 11 Sep 2008=20
Stuck my head out this morning to see what was going on with the weather =

and heard a hummingbird sounding off. Not unusual to hear them fighting=20
over the feeders. Went back out about 20 min later and let the dog out=20
and continued to hear this hummer. While the dog was going around back I =

saw a spider web from one tree to the other where the feeder is. I=20
picked up my daughters butterfly net and walked over to the web and=20
proceeded to remove the web when I heard the hummer going crazy. I=20
looked down and stuck to the ground literally was the hummer. I bent=20
over to pick it up and the wings were going a mile a minute. I calmed it =

and finally and picked it up. Took her inside where I enlisted the help=20
of my Mother in Law. See they do have a purpose. She is a falconer and=20
possess a rehab license. I removed the web from the wings but was having =

problems with the web on her tail. We pulled the web back and had to cut =

the remainder with scissors at the tip of the tail. We were very careful =

and did no harm to her feathers. I took her back outside were my=20
wife, daughter and mother in law watched her fly away. It made us very=20
happy to see her within ten minutes feeding. Just thought I would share=20
the happy ending with all.

Good Birding,
