Hi All; Even before the NW winds of yesterday there have been large flocks of sparrows and juncos roaming the yard, eating copious quantities of white millet -- which hurts the pocketbook, as millet prices have doubled of late. Most are White-throated and Song Sparrows, many presumably lingering from the summer, but migrants are mixed in, and I was surprised today to see a bright immature Fox Sparrow, looking very smart. I should keep a closer watch on my yard.
