Dear All, Sept 9, 2008 Based on behavior of one Yellowjacket today, I would use Irish Stout if I wished to trap Yellowjackets using fermented material of some kind. After having brought in a load of wood in rush mode, I took a few minutes to refresh with a float made of Irish Stout (made from kit) and ice cream, before unloading the wood and saved about 1/3 of a bottle for later. While I was unloading the wood, a Yellowjacket became a pest by flying many times into my face so I gave up and, for the first time this summer, used Deep Woods which as usual was effective. But when I took a swig of stout later, it was lumpy, alive and although I spit it out as quickly as I could, I got a good sting on my lower lip. On the subject of Yellowjackets I was amused some days ago by one that flew toward me, in a easy going way, and landed on my hand just after I had eaten an apple. It dabbed away for some minutes at traces of apple juice (only ends of thumb and some fingers so it was not sweat) before moving on. Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville
