All:

Some have seemed puzzled by continuing sightings of Ruby-throated
Hummingbirds. In fact, although many do leave in late August, sighting are
routine in September, and occasional into November (latest early Dec. 20006).
They have been particularly regular now our "southern" islands.

Today, during a swing around "Back Cove," Hartlen Pt., HRM, I saw at least six
and probably seven Ruby-throateds (all were female or Juvenal plumaged, and the
dark "raccoon mask" was seen well on most). Two were sipping at "touch-me-not"
flowers (Impatiens capensis), but three or four buzzed around a tree and then
headed high SW - clearly on their way.

Cheers, Ian McLaren
