We again have grant money to satellite track both greater and sooty =
shearwaters. You may remember in 2006, we had 6 greater shearwaters =
satellite tagged with tags lasting over 100 days, sufficient to track =
most of them to their breeding islands in the South Atlantic. In 2007 we =
tracked two sooty shearwaters but unfortunately the tags (because of =
battery or tag failure) only lasted 40 days, the signals ending during =
their migration.

This year we currently have 8 satellite tags out on greater shearwaters =
and one on a sooty shearwater and hope to tag one more sooty. Three of =
the greater shearwaters have already begun their migration.

You can follow their movements on the website: =
http://www.seaturtle.org/tracking/?project_id=3D311. The tracks for the =
two previous years can also be found in the archives on the website.
