Index of Subjects What a wet weekend, I am glad I don' t have to stay out in it the way the wildlife do. The Monarchs at our place are about half-way through their emerging from the pupae. We had eight chrysalises hanging from the garage eaves this year and in Alison brought three caterpillars inside to watch their progress. Four of the garage Monarchs have emerged and one of the indoor ones. We have found only a couple in among leaves around our place, but they are difficult to find so there may be others. The Monarchs do not seem to stay around, but last week Alison saw four flying in one area. I find them scattered over our 6 acre field so it is difficult to say how many are here, but my estimate of never more that four or five at any one time. The Monarch caterpillars are pretty well in therr last instar stages and many who are going to, have gone into the pupa stage.
