I've received an interesting observation by a local lady in regards to a ju=
venile dark-eyed junco. She actually captured some nice photos. The name =
of the lady who sent me the photos and the report is Mandy. She has an Ame=
rican robins nest on her deck and a juvenile dark-eyed junco came along and=
spent a week rearranging the grass stalks in the nest. Her photos show th=
e junco going in and out of the nest. Mandy suspects that this young junco=
is practicing for next year. Has there ever been a study done on young ju=
ncos=2C once they fledge the nest to see if this is something common for th=
is species? Eg.=2C in practicing nest building for the following year.

I know that young ospreys will practice nest building in late summer/early =
fall before leaving. I've observed this a few times locally. Is this a kn=
own thing in regards to that species? Anyhow=2C if so it is always interes=
ting to learn more facts about birds and to share with others.
