Peter Richard and I went for a ramble at Prospect on Sunday afternoon. We saw 2 Whimbrels at Fantome Rock, only the second time I have ever seen Whimbrels and in the same location as the first time several years ago.

They appear to have been feeding on Crowberry, as there were numerous fresh purple smears of berries on the rocks.

We also watched a young male Northern Harrier coursing over the barrens.

Does anyone know the current status of the Nature Conservancy project at Prospect High Head? I heard a couple of years ago that several adjoining parcels of land were finally going to be protected. I'd like to know more, if anyone has contacts or knows what's happening.

Janet
