Hi James

I found this piece of info in Internet (by using key words: hound =
Newfoundland, bird). A hound is a long tailed duck (or Oldsquaw). And =
the Dictionary of Newfoundland has the word, 'hound' and its sources on =
page 260. Using those above mentioned words, you will be able to access =
page 260 in the dictionary.=20

Hi all:
=20
For those of you out there from Newfoundland or those who have visited =
Newfoundland and are familiar with local terms for seabirds. What is a =
hound? An answer to this would be much appreciated. I cannot seem to =
find an answer or figure out from the description which bird is being =
referred to. Thanks.
