In fact I was a keen conger eel fisherman in my youth. They used to inhabit the sluice gates that drain the Lincolnshire countryside where I was born. Hooking one is easy but because they inhabit underwater structures, landing them is another story. Boating the very large ones is next to impossible without enormously strong line.
