CHIVERS, Robert Evan, 93, Meadow Brook Manor, South Brookfield, formerly of Port Mouton, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.Born in Sable River, he was a son of the late Samuel and Leona (Chivers) Chivers. He worked all of his life as a carpenter. Robert was well known for his wood carvings as many are on display at the Rossignol Cultural Centre in Liverpool. He was a member of Nova Scotia Bird Society and South Shore Naturalist Club. He enjoyed buying, selling and collecting antiques and sport fishing. He is survived by two very close people in his life: Cathy Williams and her family, Port Mouton, and June Smith, Cape Sable Island; sister, Marguerite Wahl, Naniamo, B.C; brother, Burns (Etta), Naniamo, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lena Latham; sisters, Althea Swansburg, Virginia Smith, Doris Quinlan, and Bessie Starratt; and brother Ainsley. Visitation will be Monday, July 21, 2008, from 7 to 9 pm, and a funeral service Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 2 pm, both from Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool, Pastor Mark Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Peaceful Hill Cemetery, Port Mouton. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the West Queens First Responders or Port Mouton United Baptist Church.
