I started with no experience, using the Peterson's field guide to the wildflowers. It was very easy to use, and I think it is to be recommended to anyone who is not a scientist. I cross-reference with Roland's. The new book, "Wild Plants of Eastern Canada", by Marilyn Walker, is not a complete reference, or a very good field guide, but it is delightful and informative. Caraway is supposed to be very good as seasoning or in salads. However, the pictures of it look very much like fool's parsley and poison hemlock. If your branches copy is currently checked out you can request another set from another branch. We have 16 copies in the AVRL so you would never have to wait long for a requested copy. AlsoI believe that, via the Irving Environmental Sciences Centre and/or the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens Web-sites, the herbarium specimen images can be accessed on-line by anyone?? Perhaps Ruth or Melanie can confirm or deny this and send contact information for access? Thanks in advance, from Jim in Wolfville.
