Index of Subjects Paul et al.: According to the on-line Breeding Bird Survey and Christmas Bird Count results for Nova Scotia, pheasants have increased here more than 10-fold since the mid 1960s and more than five-fold since the mid 1980s. So, what you see is what's happening. This is not a good thing. They are nest-predators on grassland and brushland birds. I wonder if the disapapearance of Gray Partridge has been abetted by them; the partridge are thriving in PEI where pheasants haven't yet become so common. Cheers, Ian McLaren
