This summer I have a pair of Song Sparrows, a pair of Downy Woodpeckers, = a pair of Hairy Woodpeckers, a pair of RT Hummingbirds. I assume most of these pairs are nesting somewhere close by. There was one additional = male Song Sparrow who was trying to approach the female a few weeks ago; it = was interesting watching the other male driving off this extra male. There = are also Robins and Blue Jays nesting nearby and many territorial skirmishes between the two species. The Yellow-bellied Sapsucker has not been seen since early spring; that seems to his usual pattern; here from about = January 1st until late March or so =20 The deer got most of my tulips this spring but so far they have left the garden alone. We still regularly see their tracks across the back yard. There is also at least one skunk that has a trail across the back; we occasionally see it and unfortunately also catch a whiff of it = occasionally. Raccoons are also regulars and as the cherries ripen will make total = pests of themselves; I would not mind them eating the cherries if they were = not so noisy, destructive and messy. =20 Our daughter, a student at Mt. A in Sackville NB is currently renting an apartment in a house on Morgan Lane, just three houses from the NB Trail = and the Waterfowl Park. Wow, what a lovely quiet street and so close to the park. We were out walking in the Waterfowl Park Saturday evening - = plenty of ducks and tree swallows. We saw one pair of Canada Geese with 5 goslings. They came ashore just ahead of us and the two adults did = plenty of hissing as we went by them. We then spotted a female Mallard with 4 ducklings ahead on the trail; they quickly ran into the grass. It was interesting watching the movement of the grass as they made their way = and then came out again to enter the water. =20 =20 Our daughter had signed up for a garden plot in the new Community Garden = on Charles Street so we spent a good part of the weekend preparing the plot = and getting it planted. While out there we saw several RN Pheasants; they = are extremely plentiful in the Sackville area. When we took the loop back around by the train station we saw a couple of Pheasant chicks along the shoulder of the road. There did not appear to be any adult birds = around; hopefully they stayed on the shoulder and did not venture out into the roadway. =20 Marian Fulton 9 Alder Drive Hantsport NS=20 =20 =20 ------=_NextPart_000_0001_01C8D0A1.C2D61060 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html> <head> <META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3Dus-ascii"> <meta name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 10 (filtered)"> <style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {color:purple; text-decoration:underline;} span.EmailStyle17 {font-family:Arial; color:windowtext;} @page Section1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:70.9pt 70.9pt 70.9pt 70.9pt;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style> </head> <body lang=3DEN-US link=3Dblue vlink=3Dpurple> <div class=3DSection1> <p class=3DMsoNormal><font size=3D2 face=3DArial><span = style=3D'font-size:10.0pt; font-family:Arial'>It has been awhile since I reported on the yard = activity here in Hantsport.
