Hello, Here is an opportunity to volunteer to do some hands-on work on a conservation property. If you have a canoe and would like to volunteer a day of your time to help the Nature Conservancy of Canada to survey for Common Loons, please see below! The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is hosting a Conservation Volunteer event on Saturday, June 28. The "Call of the Loon" event is a canoe loon survey on a NCC property near Brookfield (approx. 15 km south of Truro). We will be following the Canadian Lakes Loon Survey protocols from Bird Studies Canada (BSC), and a BSC loon expert will be on hand to talk about loons, threats to them and the importance of the survey, as we canoe these lakes looking and listening for loons. If interested, please check out our Conservation Volunteers website (www.conservationvolunteers.ca) where you can register online, or call me toll free at 1-877-231-4400. When you register you will receive more detailed information about the event, property, directions, maps, etc. closer to the event date. You are encouraged to bring your own canoe and associated gear, but we will also be renting canoes if needed.
