It has been nice to meet some of the other birders in this group. Today was very quiet until just after 6. Then there were a couple gold finches, another shy and strange larger than a sparrow, browny bird....maybe a thrush? I hope it come back. grackles are getting very aggressive in the grape vine. Oh and about 7 there was a Baltimore oriole, immature male, I think, on the seed cake. I tried to get some photos but haven't down loaded them yet. My little male hummingbird seems to have either a band or something wrong with his right leg. I will try to see more tomorrow. He doesn't sit still for long and his legs are very small. I had hope to stop with the seed cakes but I think I will continue making them. (I will go bankrupt if I buy them!! ) If I make them smaller they heat shouldn't make them rancid too quickly.......provided we get some heat. This morning the woodpeckers started hammering on our house...........no seed cake out. Marg Millard, White Point, Queens. http://margmillard.ca
