Subject: Loon survey volunteer event (fwd)

Hello,

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is hosting a Conservation
Volunteer event on Saturday, June 28 to survey for loons at a NCC
property near Brookfield, NS. If you could let your members know about
this opportunity to volunteer at your next meeting, that would be
greatly appreciated! For more information about the NCC Conservation
Volunteer program and events, and to register please go to
www.conservationvolunteers.ca or call me toll free at 1-877-231-4400.

Here is the event information from the website:
Call of the Loon
Date: Saturday, June 28, 2008
Closest Town: Brookfield, NS
Meeting Time: to be determined
Special Features: Canoe survey and loon expert
Cost: Free

Help survey three lakes at NCC's 400-acre Twin Lakes property. This
property is a complex of lakes, wetlands, bogs and forests which provide
habitat for a variety of wildlife including ducks, loons, deer and fish.
Paddle the lakes and listen and watch for nesting Common Loons,
following the Canadian Lakes Loon Survey protocol. Learn more about
these charismatic birds from a loon expert. Requires some canoeing
experience.
