There are still birds visiting the feeders here. We are about to start to withdraw a couple of the feeders but there will be two left for the ones still interested. I took one down last week. Chickadees, a very small red breasted nuthatch, lots of juncos and 3 or 4 white throat sparrows, one White Throat with almost the markings of a song sparrow including the stick pin. Do they mix it up? whatever it is very aggressive. I know juncos and White throats are suppose connect but don't know about the White throats. There are a couple song sparrows, a solitary purple finch female; a male and a female purple finch together, a darker brownier one which I think might be a house finch. I have Blue Jays, Common Grackles, Starlings, and Cow birds, male and female, Red-winged Blackbird who seems very interested in a Blue Jay and a female Red-winged Blackbird who seems unattached so far. Mourning doves, lots of Mourning doves, a couple male American Goldfinches ...... and the hummingbird. It is a male. I have yet to see it visit the feeders (I have three nice fresh ones out) so I am trying to get a photo of it sipping from the weeping branch on the grape vine. It is battling chickadees for a place at the vine. Just a short time ago it was working its way around the window in my living room looking for tiny insects I assume. Wasn't phased a bit at my approaching the window but I didn't get a shot before it left. This is either one that has been here for a couple weeks now or I have seen three birds in the past while. I will have to warm syrup in the am and see if I can draw it to the feeders as it seems so cold here. I suppose they ahve been passing through here for many years without feeders being in the offing.
