A couple of days ago he sighted the culprit and has provided very good photos. A Song Sparrow, is attacking/pecking at its' image in the sideview mirrors. In the process leaving droppings on the windows and sides of the car. I am aware of N. Cardinals doing this but this is the first Song Sparrow we have heard about.
