AKINS MARSH - FALMOUTH
Noon today.
The pair of Hooded Mergansers are still present and are obviously finding
quite a bit of food. I watched them dive for about 20 minutes or so. They
will remain close if you don't get out of the car- when you do they swim off
at an amazing speed while still managing to look casual about it. I got
several more photos today.

There are at least 6 Black Ducks, but all are now hidden in the reeds and it
takes some careful scope work to see them. Presumably they are nesting. I
couldn't find the Canada Geese, but they may be hidden in the very large
vegetation areas also.

Wood Frogs and Spring Peepers were calling occasionally.
Several large Painted Turtles were sunbathing - there seems to be quite a
population there.

John Belbin -Hantsport.
