This evening as walked around Sullivan's Pond with my Springer, I took notice of 5 smallish gull-like birds (a tern of some kind maybe, but looked too big ( a type that I have never seen before, anyway) They were all grouped together on the island with the Tootom Pole. They had very white necks & chests, light grey backs and all with very black heads. I did not have my binoculars but I saw one flying in and it looked like a small gull in flight. With that description, would anyone have any idea what they might be. In my Sibley book they look like either Bonaparte or perhaps Black-headed Gulls? Anyway, I figured the wind probably blew them in.
Also saw 12 American Wigeons & 2 Eurasian Wigeons. I didn't see any American Coots though.
