Have noticed alot of activity at my feeders and around my yard. Song Sparrows abound, as well as the Cardinals in full voice. There are several White-Throated Sparrows, Juncos, House Sparrows, chickadees and, of note, (and I'm pretty darned sure about this), an adult Fox Sparrow. I had a very good look at this bird through my hall window, as it sat, very close by, in my rambling rose 'tangle' bush. I had my Sibley book right there and noted the head markings, the crown & auriculars paterned rufous on grey, just like the illustration in the book. What originally caught my eye about this bird was rufousy red tail & it's rufousy red streaks on its chest. And it's size, it appears bigger than the song sparrows. A new bird for me.
  Delighted!

  Hi All:
I haven’t been very active on the list this winter but still busy watching what ever comes past my window. We have had White throated Sparrows since the second of March. A brown Creeper has visited on March 14th,20th, 23rd, & 25th,that I was able to document. The Chickadees are showing interest in the nest boxes again this year, so hope they will stay. Two Downey WP and a Red-Breasted Nuthatch are regular visitors, as well as a Hairy WP once in a while. A very nice Fox Sparrow was here for a few days but haven’t seen it again since March 29th. Yesterday while driving through East Pubnico, my sister-in-law and I saw a mature Bald Eagle, being harassed by a crow as it was flying over Pubnico Harbour.

I had the chance to go to Texas for a short visit and saw the following:
  Red-Bellied Wood Pecker
  Cattle Egrets
  Turkey vultures
  Double-crested cormorants
Red Tailed Hawks ( had a nest in trees where I was visiting)
  Brown and White Pelicans
  Eurasian Collared Dove
  Rock Pigeons
Bonipart gulls and I think some laughing gulls, ( there were so many that looked alike and I didn’t have field glasses.)

Wish I had been able to do more birding while there.

  Happy Birding Everyone
