This from an American acquaintance:

<<<<some good news for a change: NJ Gov. Corzine put an indefinite
moratorium on the harvesting of horseshoe crabs in Delaware Bay. This means
more eggs will be available at the full moon in May when the shore birds
stop to eat and gain strength for the rest of their flight north.... it's
esp. good news for the Redknots... whose numbers have been dramatically
declining over the years... of course along with the declining # of
horseshoe crabs. The HC eggs are used as bait to catch eels. (on a "No
Reservations" tv show this evening, Anthony Bourdin ate horseshoe crab eggs
in Singapore... and said - in total ignorance, I'm sure - "these are good --
I could sell these in NYC.">>>>>

Hope it helps the Redknots and other feeders
