Mar. 16, 2008 - On the dykelands between Wolfville and Grand Pre, Fred
Cochrane (542-3766) found an INJURED OR SICK BALD EAGLE that could only fly
a little bit. He arranged for a Dept. of Nat. Resources officer to capture
the bird and hopefully get it to the Hope for Wildlife rehabilitation
facility at Seaforth?

In our back yard, in the tiny amount of remaining snow, were the
unmistakable TRACKS OF A RABBIT OR HARE, most probably a SNOWSHOE OR VARYING
HARE. We have only seen rabbits or hares twice in our neighborhood, perhaps
two years ago?? by Pat on two successive mornings?

Also Pat saw a MINK very briefly next to our house, almost certainly the
same individual mink seen by me a half-block away on Mar. 13/08. (And later
a neighbor to the south on Grandview Drive reported seeing a MINK, probably
the same individual.)

And a MOURNING DOVE was ³singing² loudly at our home in the afternoon.

Mar. 17, 2008 - Sheila McCurdy reports that she has had WHITE-WINGED
CROSSBILLS lately at her feeders in Wolfville -- one male and two
females/immatures seen on Mar. 15 and Mar. 17.

Mar. 19, 2008 - Considering how cold it has been over the past couple of
days and especially nights, I was surprised to see a pretty fresh-looking
road-killed SKUNK on Highway 101 just west of Coldbrook.

Cheers :-) from Jim in Wolfville, 542-9204
