Hi Brian;

Besides what was in the paper, Gareth Akerman was a
member of the Bird Society, attended some of our field
trips, volunteered to participate several times in the
Halifax-Dartmouth CBC... in fact, the last time he
helped us (2006) he rented a vehicle so he and three
other birders could make it... He was one of my
Atlassers in Region 20, recorded sightings from his
field work in remote areas of Bowater Mersey property,
and a graduate student advisor on my Ornithology
course which I took at Dal in 2005.

I'm personally shocked and saddened to hear this news.

Cheers;
Suzanne
