I could tell there was an eagle through the trees, standing on the ice so I bolted with camera and binoculars in hand, and soon discovered there were in fact two eagles, one of which appeared to be eating on a bone. Within a few short minutes the eagles began to display, of which I had certainly never observed before and wasn't expecting it.
