We have had a Northern Mockingbird (male) at our feeders here in Port Hawkesbury since early autumn. He has been feeding on blueberries all winter with a few pecks at some grape jelly. Just lately, for some reason, it has switched to eating our homemade suet. I have a strong suspicion that this is the same bird that wintered with us last winter and disappeared one day before the spring Migratory Bird Count in May!! Also, we had three Pine Warblers all at once early in the winter and actually counted two on our Christmas Bird Count on December 28. Since then, one has disappeared but one female continues to show up for suet once in a while. It was here today again, but we do not see it every day. Looks like at least one Pine Warbler may make it through the winter here in the Strait Area. David Johnston. -- David W. Johnston Mary K. Johnston 207 Hiram St. Port Hawkesbury N.S.
