A stink bug... good thing you didn't squish it!

  Subject: [NatureNS] Mystery insect

  Hi, all-

We had an mystery insect in the house for the last couple of days. It =
probably came in on firewood. We released it outdoors today and it flew =
off with great enthusiasm (but it's probably doomed to quick freezing.)

I have a feeling that it is one of the true bugs, perhaps an Assassin =
Bug. The body length was about 1.2cm. It had a sort of thoracic shield, =
a very small head, and I was able to convince myself that I saw a beak =
stowed away underneath.=20

Anybody care to comment? There are photos here: =

  Regards

  Peter Payzant
