Dear All, Mar 4, 2008 Monday, March 3, some 50-100 Bohemian Waxwings perched in a White Ash near the house for 10-15 minutes. They seemed to be knocking a lot of snow off of the branches. That 'snow', now that the real snow has melted, turns out to be the reddish orange hairy packing of Rose hips plus seed (Rosa virginiana I would guess; 5-10 angular pips, often one much larger than others). About 30 Waxwings, probable BW, visited briefly on Thursday Feb 28, but light conditions were too poor to be sure they were not Cedar. Yours truly, Dave Webster, Kentville
