Today was beautiful! The sun allowed for good light and the wind on the dyke was bearable. There were about 200 ducks on the north sewer pond with about one third of the pond ice free. Most of the ducks were mallards but with patience and time I was able to pick out some interesting ones. One of the drakes was very dark, all of the markings were as a usual mallard but without the neck ring and all colours were a tone or two darker than the other drakes. There was at least one other drake without the neck ring but with the usual colouration. Two drakes were Black/Mallard cross. One Blake Duck drake with a very bright bill. One female pintail. One Gadwall drake. Remember to use the compressor building as a blind, the ducks are using the north pond, so walk to the south end of the building then climb the small hill and peek around the east side of the building. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ George E.
