Sun Feb 17 /08 Wolfville:

Just to let you know that Sandra and Bernard Forsythe, and I, saw the
elegant 'partial' albino Red-tailed Hawk just south of the Ridge Rd at
Exit 10 (Hortonville/Grand Pre exit), Hwy 101, on our return to Wolfville
this afternoon. It was perched in some tall trees edging an orchard on the
south side of the eastern end of the Ridge Rd. We watched it set out across
the fields below the Ridge, and then return, taking time to hover and enjoy
the updraughts caused by the strong winds blowing there. A pretty sight.

The only 'colour' markings we noted were some dark feathers on the back of
its head, and the upper part of its tail has a pale pinkish-brown wash to
it. Bernard noted it eyes were very dark.

Anyone searching the area for this hawk should check both sides of this Exit
10 overpass area along the Ridge Rd, as local residents say it sometimes
perches in a stand of trees to the west of the overpass between the Ridge Rd
and Hwy 101.

Cheers,
Judy Tufts
