You already know about the oriole in our yard, but here's a bit more...

Feb. 9, 2008 - Pat and I were surprised and delighted to behold a new
species for our Wolfville yard, a BALTIMORE ORIOLE with bright orange
underparts, probably a very colourful female? (the wing-bars show no hint of
maleness (yet?).

HALIFAX FIELD NATURALISTS FIELD TRIP TO HOPE SWINIMER¹S HOPE FOR WILDLIFE
SOCIETY¹S wildlife rehabilitation centre at Head of Chezetcook/Seaforth,
Eastern Shore. Check out http://www.hopeforwildlife.net for more info¹.
There were 22 of us, and it was a great tour from Hope and Rhonda? More on
this later...

At Sullivan¹s Pond in Dartmouth, Pat and I noted 3 AM. COOTS, a male
GADWALL, 10+ AM. WIGEONS, 2 small all-white ducks (domestics), and 2
BLACK-HEADED GULLS.

Feb. 11, 2008 - BIG DUMP OF SNOW, perhaps 20-25 cm. or so, over yesterday
and overnight and continuing a bit this morning. Our BALTIMORE ORIOLE was
right at our feeders, mostly on a bird pie; other ³customers² included 15++
common redpolls and about 10+ goldfinches (more of both than our usual
menagerie), etc. About 10 AM. ROBINS were near our yard, and, probably not
coincidentally, about 75 WAXWINGS, presumably Bohemians but not identified.
