I've been contacted recently through the Birding Pal network by a visiting
birder from Ottawa. His list of target species is not large but does
include several of the alcids and Eurasian Wigeon. I think that I can find
the Wigeon but reports of alcids have been rather spotty recently. We will
certainly visit Chebucto Head but are there other locations in the
Halifax-Dartmouth area where alcids, especially Dovekie, are being seen
recently. After leaving Halifax, he may be driving down the South Shore
towards Cape Sable Is. Are there locations down that way where I should
recommend that he stop?

Any info you can share would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Bob McDonald
