The caged raptor will feel freedom at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the main feeding site at the end of Middle Dyke Road. The 17th annual Eagle Watch starts this coming weekend and will run for three weekends. Hennigar says new this year is an invitational art show on the theme of raptors. ³We have 16 artists coming and they use multimedia from carving to stained glass,² he said. Admission to the displays upstairs at the Sheffield Mills Community Centre is $1. The displays will also be open Feb. 9 - 10. Bookings for school visits are encouraged weekdays from Jan. 28 Feb. 8. One school from Berwick is scheduled to come already. On the food front, Hennigar promises, the menu at the hall is being enhanced this year and all the main ingredients will be local. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26-27, the now traditional pancake and sausage breakfast will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Musical entertainment this season starts out with Adam Bazinet, a young singer/songwriter, who will perform early in the morning, followed by t@b later on. A baked beans and brown bread meal will be served up at the Lloyd Memorial Centre in Kingsport from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Trinity United Church in Canning will be hosting a variety supper from 4 6 p.m. Sunday, the entertainment in the community centre will be Johanne McInnis with harp and hymns. From mid-morning until noon the Celtic Session Band will be playing. The Medford Womenıs Institute luncheon will offer up homemade soup or chowder in the United Church Hall, Kingsport from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. On the weekend of Feb. 2 3 breakfast will continue in Sheffield Mills. Johanne McInnis will entertain there again, along with t@b. The luncheon at the Lloyd Memorial Centre will continue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, the musical entertainment during the breakfast will feature Gib McInnis, from mid-morning to noon, then Susan Ueffing and finally Good Intentions will play traditional Celtic, Country and folk music. Ueffing is a well-known local singer and guitar player with three CDs. Eagles are in the area from late November until early March, but January and early February are the best months for viewing. The eagles are most plentiful during mid to late morning. Many other raptors are also present in area during the eagle season. Highway shoulders are not as wide as they may appear, Hennigar said. When ditches are filled with snow, leave at least half the width of your vehicle on the pavement. Please drive safely, he asked, avoiding sudden un-signalled stops. To pick up a map indicating viewing sites, the centre will be open until 3 p.m. all three weekends. [More info' at] http://www.eaglens.ca . --Submitted
